Gloria and Peter
- When did you start Geocaching?
- How did you find out about Geocaching?
- What was it about geocaching that got you hooked into the game?
April 1st, 2004 – The first day of Peter’s retirement.
We already had a GPS and Peter saw a notice in the Selkirk Journal for a 2-evening Geocaching course. The geocaching.com web site was mentioned. He went to the web site and decided that he could figure this out without the course. Two days later we found Bur Oak.
The Thrill of the Hunt, the new and interesting places that geocaching has taken us; the technology.

- What is the meaning of your username?
- At the time of this survey, how many finds/hides do you have to your name?
About 2 years ago I saw a segment about geocaching on the Discovery Channel. Then about a year ago I got my first GPSR and stumbled onto Geocaching.com.
I started caching on Oct 31/04 Halloween. What better time to sneaking around.
Mostly a wanna-be. I was kind of a reckless youth and it was sort of a dream of mine to be a stuntman.
Currently I have 240 finds. Only about 10 are locationless and the rest are all legwork. I have 12 caches hidden and only 1 is disabled.

I was browsing through an outdoor magazine in our local library when I came across an article about geocaching. Were always on the lookout for interesting spots to go hiking and this looked like a good source of ideas. I looked up the Geocaching website, recognized the potential and started researching GPSrs immediately.
We logged our first find on April 26, 2003. We actually started by going to the Assiniboine Park and looking for the Courts Cache. Of course it had been muggled. Not a great start. Next we went to Beaudry Park were we successfully located The Last of the Manitoba ENTS. We tried to find the other nearby cache, The Big Stick, but all we could find was a large pile of sawdust. Fortunately, The Big Stick was in another tree.

When I was purchasing a gps unit to use for fishing/hunting I was told about it and it sounded interesting. So much so that unlike usual I actually looked up the website when I got back home. I tried a couple of caches even before I got my unit and I have been hooked since.
March 20, 2004 and it was the Munson park cache which has now been archived.
I used that name for Yahoo chat lines years before Geocaching. Back then I went with it because Forest Gump was a popular movie but Gump was already taken so I changed it to Gumpy. Now I go by Gumpy when Geocaching or by the man by the name of Gump
