Parks Canada Workshop

On May 5 and 6 of 2006, there were collaborative discussions between Parks Canada, Geocachers and Non-Government Organizations (NGO's) in Gatineau, Quebec. The purpose of the workshop was to jointly create policy recommendations for Parks Canada management at their invitation. It was a positive experience for all participants involved. This was step two of five in the second phase in a process that started May 2005 to develop a geocaching policy. An anticipated implementation date for the policy is Spring 2007. Until a final policy is in place, the interim policy remains in effect. We are optimistic that some form of physical geocaching will exist in Parks Canada in the future. A more in depth summary of details will follow.

Cacher of the Month - May 2006

MHz

MHz
MHz & Gord from Morris
  1. How did you find out about Geocaching?
  2. Another geocacher, Razzputen, who is also a family friend, asked Gord to check out geocaching.com as he knew we had GPS units which we use for our amateur (ham) radio hobby. Gord told me about it and well we tried to find two different caches the very next weekend. That was on February 14, 2004. We didn’t succeed as we were little prepared for the mounds of snow and cold temps that day. The next time we went out, we were far more prepared and succeeded on every cache we tried to find and even met another cacher, Crooked Toe, at the cache sites of our first and second finds. It also seems fitting that the first cache we found, The Munsen Park Cache, was owned (now archived) by Razzputen.

Geocaching Set to Music

Rob Pearce of Pennsylvania's TeamPearce has written and performed an enjoyable geocaching song: "Don't Tell My Wife I'm Out Geocaching". He's given us permission to link to it. Thanks Rob! I can't get the song out of my head!
