I’m not as hunter myself and it took me a few minutes to figure out the hunting seasons so I thought I’d list that information here.
Seasons are posted on Manitoba Conservation’s website for Big Game Hunting.
You start by looking at the maps and finding the area you’re interested in. There are Zones for Deer, Bear and Wolf and GHA’s for Moose and Elk.
Game Hunting Areas (GHA)
Deer Hunting Zones
Black Bear and Gray Wolf Hunting Zones
You then need to look up each Big Game Species and view it’s Seasons and Bag Limits. The seasons are broken down by Zones and Equipment Type (Firearm).
For example, to find the rifle season for deer:
- Under Big Game Hunting, Big Game Species, pick Deer
- Then, under White-tailed Deer Hunting go to Seasons and Bag Limits
- For the Zones in my area, General Rifle season for Deer is Nov 12 - Dec 2
Sunday Hunting is now permitted in some GHA’s. _________________ I came for the caches, but I stayed for the people! |

General rifle white-tailed deer season opened today and closes December 2nd.
Be sure to wear your blaze orange if you’re in the bush.
Hunting is permitted from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset and is not allowed on Sundays in many areas of southern Manitoba. North of Winnipeg is the exception where Sunday hunting is allowed this year. _________________ I came for the caches, but I stayed for the people! |

The regulations for a hunter, during deer season is orange above the waist. The cheap plastic orange vests are good enough and available at places like walmart canadian tire, and cabelos, etc. I would suggest an orange hat/toque as well. ( especially if you have nice brown or blonde hair.) You can pick up hunting regs at the same places. At the back of the book are the hunting dates. It should be all over as previously stated by the first week in Dec. At least here in the south. If you are caching at night you should be ok except if there are poachers. Orange at night is just as dark as everything else. In Winnipeg My normal poaching hours are between ... |
