|
|
One idea that may or may not happen that has been bouncing around is the MBGA creating a new geocoin to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the club.
I'd like to actually come up with a design to try to get this closer to being a reality. I have the SW that will allow me to save it in the format the coin manufactures need and I like using it so why not.
What I need is ideas for what is to go on the geocoin.
There are lots of things that can represent MB and the club. I found it interesting that the Manitoba provincial tree is the White Spruce! Somehow fitting for us! Other things are the Great Grey Owl and the Crocus flower or how about an ox cart? Or a combination of these!
I want to know your ideas.
Maybe just maybe we can actually make this geocoin happen! _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

How about an cache sitting in a white spruce with a crocus flowering out of the container. |

Seeing as there are two sides to every coin... (I made a funny! )
How about the oxcart carrying the MBGA crest? |

Ohhhh I like that one too! Could even put a white spruce or two in the back ground. _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

Maybe we could enter it into the new flag of Manitoba contest too! A branded Wisent's Cousin with a YAPT cache - hah hah? Let's do a coin or even a pathtag. I'd love to have something to trade/give away when we travel as well. I am proud of our association - I think we have some of the best quality unique hides in North America... |

Been thinking about this a lot but not working on it as I'm parted from my PC at the moment as it's on the farm island.
Putting the MBGA logo in an ox cart would hide too much of the logo.
Branding a Bison with the MBGA logo would result in either an extremely large bison or a very tiny logo.
ertyu and I discussed options a while ago.
How about a Bison shaped coin with the bison branded with a 5 or 5th for 5th Anniversary and the club logo, website, tracking number and "2005-2010" on the back? _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

I've been working on this and have a very rough draft of the bison side created. It still needs some tweaking as it needs to be much smaller which will loose some of the detail. Currently it also has too many colors if we want a color coin. Going for a metal finish with the colors only on the MBGA logo on the back may be a better option.

I may remove the word cache and I will try to remember to put a handle on the ammo can.
Any opinions on design or finish etc?

PS the goolge eyes may change expression but are staying as I can't seem to create a creature without them. I blame this on Garfield who was the first critter I learned to draw. _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

I've altered things a bit and added a basic design for the back side.

Was there anything else we wanted on the coin? Anything missing? _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

The TurdleFemme and I were looking at the latest images and we think they look great! The eyes and expression are perfect and the level of detail is good. I think the temptation is often to try and pack too much detail into a design, but really, the simple designs have the most impact. I can’t decide if the coin would look better in colour or monochromatic. I think the design would work either way.
Great work MHz – thanks! _________________ I came for the caches, but I stayed for the people! |

I just didn't like his Bart Simpson hair. I still have that design as it was at the same address but I have anew version now with the hair changed to be more of a James Dean shock of hair and I added a second version of him on the back of the coin.

I think I'm done playing. Until it's decided what version people like (Bart Simpson hair, James Dean hair and with or without a bison version on the back) _________________ MHz, a cacher who no more knows her destiny than a tea leaf knows the history of the East Indian Company |

I seem to like the cow lick like hair instead of the 'Bart Simpson'. I really liked the bison with sun glasses on on the back of the coin. |

I like the Bart hair, although a cross between the two hairs might work also. I'd rather not complicate the back with the second bison. |
