Im currently living in Leaf Rapids right now (which is 200 kms NW of Thompson) and I've noticed that there arent alot of caches or cachers up here. Ive placed 12 caches in and around Leaf Rapids to introduce geocaching to the local kids here in town, and to get some more northern caches.
I dont know how often cachers check for new caches waaaaaay up north, so I thought I would post this topic.
So, plan a trip from Thompson to Leaf, it'll be worth your while.
Im going crazy not being able to go caching anywhere near by. I only have 3 or 4 caches left in thompson to find (which i save for when I have to come to Thompson for work). |

| It certainly can be lonely out there in the North, but you never know. There seems to be quite active caching around Flin Flon these days. It seems that if you hide it, people will come, but Leaf Rapids is a long way for us city folks down here in the south so don't expect us for a while, some day, some day. |

| Yup, some day for sure. I've seen them start to pop up up there. I'm already looking forward to an opportunity to take a few days to hunt them all down. Still, probably 2011 is when I'm looking at that trip. |

Can remember not too long ago waiting for someone to come and find my caches too here in The Pas. It just seemed I was the only living person in the geocaching community around here.
This year has been great for activity and having persons find my caches here in The Pas.
As others have said, Flin Flon is booming so it'll happen.
Hang in there Brother cause as they say, "hide it and they will come." |

On the plus side, it gives you ample opportunity to explore the countryside and find great locations for your hides. I've found that in the city, sometimes you spend time on preparing a hide only to find out that someone has beaten you to the spot.
Good, well thought out rural caches in spots that people will want to see are a great way of attracting us city folk. |
