That is a good question! The original plan was to have them available by Dec 2009.
Currently it's waiting on another MBGA monetary issue before it can proceed. I've also pretty much run out of time to work on it but since the basic design is done and the coin manufacturer has it, pretty much anyone on the MBGA exec can take the reins and finish it off.
Still need a slogan for the front and the current one "Bringing Cachers Together for 5 Years!" is a good one but a bit long. Failing something better, that is likely what will be crammed onto the front of the coin.
Hopefully this isn't a project that falls between the cracks.

Some suggestions I've already gotten:
Manitoba - Mostly Flat!
Manitoba - Spirited Caching!
Caching the Keystone for 5 Years!
Anyone else have one? |
Manitoba - Just plain awesome

I've gotten the go ahead from the MBGA and so have given the project over to Landsharkz to see if they can improve on the design and get this project rolling.
I'll keep you posted as things progress. I doubt if they will be ready by xmas though.

Ok we've gotten some proofs we are moving forward with. These are just to make up samples and may not be the final finishes but the basic design of the coin is not going to change.

I love the two-tone black nickel one.
Gimme 10 of 'em!
The other ones I'm so crazy about.

Great job, Paula!
I like the "Two tone Black Nickel + Shiny nickel" the best. I'll take 6 of that one as well as 2 each of the other 2.

The coin is still in the early stages so nothing is final yet. A ballpark estimate would be $10 per coin.
I'm thinking there likely will be a pre-sale of coins once we have more finalized details.

Here's the final proof from the coin manufacturer.
They had to change 3 things they have marked.
1 - small detail that can't be color filled
2 - a font change
3 - added an extra piece so horn could be cut out without breaking.
I also had them add the bison's name/beard/hair custom texture to the bison on the back of the coin.
I hope to have samples soon!

I still don't have samples but I have pics of them. See this temp site I setup with them:
http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~pehn/Bison.html
So far most have liked the two tone version at the top of the page. I await the actual samples and the club to offically pick a version(s) to order. Should know better after that when they will be available for purchase. I believe the club is also working on a pre-sales site so I'm sure it will come once we have an estimated delivery date for the coin.
Patience!
