I am fairly new and am using a Garmin ETrex. If I decide to upgrade can I expect better accuracy? Typically if I am around trees I am accurate within 20 feet and it take a while to "settle down" and even then I am looking in a fairly large circle. Is that what I should be expecting? thanks |

What exact model of etrex do you have?
Several years back there was a big leap in GPS receiver performance, so if you jump that boundary you are likely to notice the improvement. But things have been fairly stagnant since, so most GPS perform about the same, with the most significant difference being the antenna used. |

I have a Summit. I purchased it second hand so I am not sure of the age. |

The plain summit (not HC) which is black and white would be one of the older class of units. |
