I am a researcher in the area of human-computer interaction at Kodak Research Labs in Rochester, NY. Currently, I am collaborating on some geocaching research with a grad student, Anthony Tang, from the University of British Columbia. Both of us are also geocachers (dr_carmster and proclubboy) and I was actually born in Winnipeg (lived there for 10 years).
As part of our research, we are investigating geocaching practices to see how they may differ between different areas around the world and even between individuals. Ultimately, this knowledge will help us to design enjoyable location-based technologies that allow people to connect with others, and to share media and stories.
We currently have an online survey that we are trying to get geocachers from around North America to fill out. If you have the time, we'd love it if you could fill it out. You can find it here:

Thanks!! Feel free to ping me if you have questions.
cheers,
carman |

I took this survey. It's 50ish questions that take about 15 minutes to complete. _________________ I use multi-billion dollar military satellite systems to find Tupperware in the forest. |

Don't know how you got through it in 15 mins, but it took me about an hour. Then again... I've never been known for my short responses. Also, I was hunting around online for where I posted the full contents of my geocaching bag . _________________ =======================

Greetings former Winnipeger turned Rochestarian! I lived in Rochester, NY for 5.5 years before moving back home to Winnipeg in 2006. Nice to see another Winnipeger made their way to the Flower (Flour) City.
I'll be sure to fill out your survey.

Many thanks to all the people that helped us before with this research!
We are currently conducting a follow-up study to understand the environmental factors that affect caching. A link to our survey is here if you have a few minutes. It should only take 15 minutes or so.

Many thanks! |
