Is there any way to get rid of the banners from the top of the forum pages? Or at least to control the content of those banners? One of the banners that appears frequently says: "Active Sexsearch members in Saint Vital - Meet these horny members now and get laid tonight" It just doesn't seem appropriate for the MBGA forum pages.

I use anti-virus software that blocks url’s by content. It substitutes its own “Page Blocked” banner. I use Trend Micro PC –cillin.

I have sent an email to the company running the forum to see what can be done about the ad content. I will post another note as soon as I get a response. M.I.

What about the thought of changing to google ads? You can get 'em entirely text-based, and generally they have something relating to whatever text is on-screen.

The issue is that the forums are hosted off-site. The forum host makes their $$ through the ad banners.
If they are unwilling or unable to do anything, our options are to pay for a "premium" forum, or change hosts. Changing hosts will mean losing all of the existing content, though.

Master Instigator, who set up the MBGA forums, put in a trouble report with the ActiveBoard admins yesterday (Oct 30th), and today recieved the following reply:

So, hopefully we'll soon see a decrease the number of objectionable banners at the top of the forum. If not, the Association will likely investigate alternatives.

No, thats a bug somewhere. Those banners can never be the same, so something between the website and you is messing with the code. |

Apparently I had some kind of IE Spam causing add-on that was using my Google search bar and was screwing up any Google ads in my browser. I think its fixed. Sorry for the concern |
