Upper Fort Garry Gate Cache (GCMNJB) is very close to your hotel and an interesting historic site. The Forks (GCM256) is a must for any visitor to Winnipeg and a fun hide. On the Waterfront (GCNFAB) is a fun multi you can do on a walk – best done during the day if you want to avoid itinerants. Tardis (GCP8TM) is a multi that finishes some distance away, but even doing the first stage will put a smile on your face! First Post (GC6C18) and Patriot Game (Winter-friendly) (GCMNW4) will give you a walking tour of the beautiful and historic grounds around the Manitoba legislature building.
A little beyond walking distance (6-8 km round trip) is Barking up the right tree (GCT4T7), a clever hide in an historic neighborhood. Message in a Bottle Opener (GCTFWP) is a fun new multi with a good size final stage.
There’s also some micro’s in historic locations close by, but they may present a challenge to find (especially in the winter) No.1 Northern (GCPZDF), Fountain Promenade (GCMMY5) and Eye of the Man (Cathedral Illuminations) (GCMMYB). This last one is best seen at night – and it doesn’t matter if you don’t find the cache!
