So, should we have another "Blitz" type event this year and if so, how should we do it?
Last year we had a month of hiding "Blitz" caches and then the rest of the summer to find them. It went better than expected with over 120 caches hidden in the month of May. Many other Associations do similar hiding events but instead have all caches released on a certain day.
What does everybody think? What kind of things would you like to see in a cache hiding event? Should we have more/less prize categories? (as soon as I can find some hiding event examples, I will post them) Let us know by posting your opinions, ideas, thoughts, questions here! Your input is hugely appreciated. After all, this is your Association. Make your voice heard! _________________ You're not a member of the MBGA until you've been bopped by Tobey in the chatroom!

Given the success of last year cache-drive, I think we should do another Blitz event this year. Perhaps we should slightly change the name so as not to confuse last years caches with this years? Something like "Bash" or "Craze" or "Jamboree" or who knows what else. Just a tiny suggestion.
I very much look forward to whatever ends up being planned for the summer. |

I think it's a good idea too. Especially as a way to promote the placement of more traditional sized caches rather than micros. |

Thought: Cache rally/scavenger hunt.
At the start of the month, a list of requirements are posted. Caches that survive the summer are totaled, and highest points wins.
Requirement suggestions:
- Place a cache larger than a micro in a pine tree.
- Place a cache more than 100M from a marked path.
- Place a cache in tribute to your favourite sports team.
- Place a cache larger than 5 litres within (any) city limits.
- Place a "plain sight" micro. (Must be clearly visible from 10M away)
- etc, etc...
Ground rules, like "Unless otherwise stated, caches must have a minimum volume of 200 mL." might be considered, too.

I like the idea of letting caches be placed over a period of time then seeing if any survive. I am not sure if we want many rules - points could be the carrot for good high quality hides.
- Micros - 0 unless in plain sight
- Anything in a 'Pine' tree when it is really a spruce - 0 (OK I could not resist)
- 50gal in plain sight downtown (anywhere) - lots of points.
I think you get the idea.
How about a voting system. Finders get to rank the cache on a scale of 1-5. I am not sure how that would acutally work when logging the cache. It might be more work then it is worth.
Good suggestion for a summer event in any case. |

Would this be open to MBGA members who live out of province? Our summer residence is in Manitoba...Lake of the Prairies. Caches I put out would be in that area. |

I'm sure we could work that in somehow. It's an event so we can do whatever we want!
You like the idea of having a list of hiding requirements and hiding caches that way or having caches hidden then all published the same day? _________________ You're not a member of the MBGA until you've been bopped by Tobey in the chatroom! |

I would prefer the caches be released over time.
I like the name Cache Crush. What clever fellow mentioned that name?
Burchil's idea of rewarding an exceptional placement is good too. _________________ Have you hugged a lizard today? |

Possibly a contest between Sask & Manitoba for most caches placed?

Couldn't of been you could it? Do we have a mirror emoticon at all? Lizardo seems to need a larger one. _________________ You're not a member of the MBGA until you've been bopped by Tobey in the chatroom! |

A training session is a good idea.
I prefer to have the caches released over time and not on a single day.

ACK!!! It's a scary day when I concur with ertyu...on both points even!
I think a training session is a good idea and I personally like the idea of caches being released over time. Otherwise there will be a big huge influx of caching over a short time span for all the hard core caches. But that's just my 2 cents and it won't necessarily be the opinion of the majority. _________________ You're not a member of the MBGA until you've been bopped by Tobey in the chatroom! |

I think it's a great idea having another caching spree this year.
I also like the idea of having a point system and requirements.
I'd like to see extra points for:
- in the city, placing a cache that's not within 0.5 kms of another cache
- outside the city, placing a cache that's not within 10kms of another cache
- size of cache
- unique hide location
- unique cache container
- interesting log book
Just some ideas ... _________________ I use multi-billion dollar military satellite systems to find Tupperware in the forest. |
