I heard on the radio this morning that we are going to experience the worst Canker Worm outbreak since 1995. This also means in the history of geocaching.
Does anyone know what "season" canker worms are around (yeah, I know summer).. but do they disappear in July? Do they start showing up in May?
I don't relish doing a lot of wooded areas with the worms. It's not the worms that really bug me, it's their sticky webbing. _________________ I use multi-billion dollar military satellite systems to find Tupperware in the forest. |

Canker worms wouldn't bug you because they aren't insects, which are a class of the large animal Phylum called ARTHROPODA (arthropods) - a name that refers to the jointed limbs. Canker worms, on the other hand, are larva of the Alsophila pometaria and are, therefore, of the genus ALSOPHILA, the geometrid moths. So, I suppose you would be "mothed" by canker worms.
