Well, now that I have your attention, I'm talking about cache container size. I am curious to see what size of containers people typically hide. Here is the breakdown of my active caches in Manitoba (note, some are shared hides with The Old Bat, so they are not all listed under my profile):

By Size:
Regular - 17
Small - 10
Micro - 2
Virtual - 2

By Type:
Traditional - 23
Multi - 2
Puzzle - 3
Letterbox - 1
EarthCache - 2

Oh sure .. entrap me by the thread header!

The larger the cache the better, especially if you take into consideration TB's and kid friendliness.

if ( size != matters ) {

set ocean = motion;

}

3 caches, 3 traditionals, 2 small, one regular. Not that difficult a breakdown for a newbie like me :/

Size does matter; but unfortunately regulars are getting smaller and smaller, especially in the city.
Our numbers: Large-1, Regular-9, Small-15, Micro-3
Traditional-17, Multi-4, Mystery/Unknown-7

Our 76 active/temp disabled 1Q4J caches

6 Large
12 regular
33 small
19 micro
6 other- variety from large to nano

I'd love to hide more regulars (ammo cans) however not only does size matter but cost does too. Young family equals less disposable income so more lock n' locks and tobacco containers and less 9 dollar apiece ammo cans.

I think if the MBGA could buy bulk ammo cans and resell them for 3-4 dollars a pop we'd have a lot more of them placed. To have a 15 dollar ammo can stolen feels like a big loss I'm sure. I still easily remember when there was no size small at gc.com just micro to regular 2-3 years ago!

Well for the sake of generating some discussion on the topic, I'm going to argue that size does not matter. Coming from a rural area perhaps we have some bias as we don't have to endure as many micros or nanos, but we've had fun looking for all the various sizes of containers out there from button to 45 gallon barrel. Knowing what size of container you are looking for is a big advantage as we discovered this past weekend where there were no clues to size or hide style.

I think size is a minor consideration after location, interest or idea. Certainly it makes sense to hide as large as you can in a given setting, but you have to consider theme, muggle resistance, maintenance and costs. In my mind the game would get pretty dull if you were always looking for an ammo can, no matter how well it is camoed. Although we've seen some pretty neat ways to hide ammo cans lately.

Speaking of ammo cans the fellow in Westbourne Army Surplus has them by the hundreds on pallets and we may be able to negotiate some kind of deal. Is that something the MBGA would be interested in pursuing? Who's our best wheeler dealer? Perhaps we can get them directly from military surplus auction in Shilo or Winnipeg?

Question
