Plans for the MBGA's Geoventure 2011 are now underway! The 2010 event was held at Birds Hill Park. The location worked very well but some concerns have been raised due to the Provincial Parks Geocaching Rules. The committee is confident that we can hold a successful event at Birds Hill despite the new changes. We are however looking to our membership for any input on the location for the event.
Where would you like to see Geoventure 2011 held? |

| Not Birds Hill. Perhaps one of the many small communities outside of Winnipeg. Many of them have campgrounds. |

| Spuce Woods is a great spot for caching. I'm not sure how cacher friendly the place is with administration. |

Spruce Woods has the advantage to be closer to Brandon... we may get more WestMan geocachers coming to the event.
The park already has a few caches and this could be an opportunity to see a few new ones published! |

Spruce Woods and Stephensfield are great for big group camping. Has a date been chosen? _________________ Creeping around in the bushes at night is going to get me in trouble one of these days.... |

I am a newb at all of this, with just 40 finds so far but am really getting interested.
I would love to come and meet some of the vets that are out there. Is there anything specific I should bring? Also, I only have an iPhone for GPS, will this be enough for the challenge?
I will only be able to make it out on the Saturday.
Thanks |

Hi there
Your Iphone should be fine
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2Q0F3
Heres the link to the main event
To help us plan ahead, please log a Will Attend if you plan to attend. Also, please list:
the number of people in your party
whether you'll be camping
if you plan to attend the Pancake Breakfast
if you plan to attend the Potluck BBQ
what food item you plan to contribute to the potluck
We encourage everyone to bring your own reusable water bottles, travelmugs, plates, cutlery, etc. to help reduce garbage and its effects on the environment. However, we will have supplies for those who forget. |

| I don't use my iPhone much for caching, but I would guess that at a minimum you would need to be able to enter and navigate to co-ordinates manually to participate in the challenge. You might also need to be able to project waypoints. If it's not suitable there is probably someone else to team up with. |
