Something else to think about with this logo design. Imagine a Geocoin that looks like this. |

I as well will have to tip my hat towards the non-heart-shaped thing. I dunno... maybe it's just me, but a logo that's heart shaped... it just seems too much like a bad pun or something.
Unfortunately, my design skills are generally limited to 8-bit sprites, so I can't have all that much say in the matter as I'm not putting forth an attempt.
At least right now, anyway... I've gotta leave for work in... *checks clock* 2 minutes _________________ Ia Numtaru, ia Lammia, ia Asaku, ia Pazuzu.

Unfortunately, I think Glacier Ice's design is too close to the logo being used for the 2010 Homecoming. We would certainly need to ask their permission before we could go with a logo like that.
I would encourage others, that even if you are not the artistic type, just throw out your ideas on what the logo/geocoin could look like. We can always get some graphic artist to pretty it up for us. |

Ok, here's another idea. How about a take off of Mike's idea, but instead of using a red ticket, we change it to a green ammo can?
It would also be nice to somehow incorporate the moose from our upcoming MBGA geocoin into the Mega Event logo. He could be peaking around the corner of whatever the logo is.
Something like the logo for the ASP Geobash Mega Event, but using our moose instead of the porcupine:

I really appreciate the effort and amazing production GI put into the red ticket logo, but I don’t think we can use it. The 2010 Manitoba Homecoming folks gave us permission to use their logo, but as an element of something else. I don’t think we’re permitted to rip-off the design. I think it also sends the message that the mega event is a 2010 Manitoba Homecoming initiative, not a geocaching one.
As to Junglehair’s design, a warm and fuzzy (arguably a bit cheesy) logo for Manitoba’s 2010 mega event works well. It also lends itself nicely to Geocoin production and reflects the working name of the event – “Geoventure 2010: Heart of the Continent”.
Having said that, as there’s no clear logo winner yet, le TurdleFemme sketched out a few more ideas. They are the 2010 Mega Beaver, Manitoba Mega Beaver, Disco Mega Beaver (just for grnbrg ) and Homecoming Mega Beaver. What do you think?

Here's logo 2 version 1.
Originally, I started off doing something with grasslands in the foreground instead of the bridge, but I decided the bridge offered a much more striking and contrasting look.

Something else I played with this morning. A bit of an interesting shape using the bridge spire.
Bit of an odd artifact in the 'e' of continent, but this is just a rough draft.

I love the idea, but how about using the Legislature/Golden Boy...a more well known Manitoba icon instead of that eye sore of a bridge. _________________ Creeping around in the bushes at night is going to get me in trouble one of these days.... |

Thought of that too. I think it's just too easy to default to the old stand-bys that represent our province. Don't get me wrong, the Golden Boy and our Bison are awesome icons, but I wanted to try something a bit more edgy.
Personally, I like this bridge. It is extremely photogenic. Not that the Legislature isn't, but this bridge has some really neat perspective lines that I've seen used. But that's the graphic artist/photographer in me.
I do have another evil little idea I'm toying with... that's this evening's project. |

| I'm starting to think we need to throw out the "Heart of the Continent" part of our slogan. We want to keep the word "Home" in there to tie into the 2010 Homecoming, but "Heart of the Continent" isn't really necessary and I think it's making the logo design more complicated. |
