So how would you like this when geocaching, you'd be 10 feet out on all your caches. Not that I'll get a chance to geocache in Chili but you never know. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/03/09/chile.earth.shifts/?hpt=Sbin
Not sure which one but one of the universities in Wpg was able to feel the quake with their instraments shortly after it happened. _________________ Those who dare win! |

Not to mention we now have shorter days as a result.
A whole 1.26 microseconds. _________________ "So do they sometimes hide caches in dog poo like this?" "No, that's real poo. You might want to put that down." |

I'm a geologist at the University of Manitoba; we have a seismograph there that recorded the Chilean earthquake, as well as the Haitian earthquake. The seismic traces are currently on display within the Ed Leith Cretaceous Menagerie in the Wallace Building (Geological Sciences) at the U. of Manitoba if anyone is interested in checking them out. The seismograph itself is also on display, where it's constantly rotating with its little needle moving back and forth (just as you'd see in the movies).
The seismograph goes nearly a kilometer into the Earth, so while we can't feel any of these vibrations at the surface, even minute disturbances are picked up by the extremely precise instruments. |

So if you eat the beans, they'll know it. _________________ "So do they sometimes hide caches in dog poo like this?" "No, that's real poo. You might want to put that down." |
