I came across a program to track my Placed Cache Statistics. When I ran it I noticed a new figure: Cache Karma. Cache Karma is the ratio of the total number of finds of your caches divided by the number of finds your team has made.
TurdleEggs Cache Karma = 1.06.
Profile for User: TurdleEggs
For some reason this made me feel quite good
It’s not all my Karma though – there’s some polarbeardiggers Karma mixed in as well because nine caches were adopted
Does anyone else know what their Cache Karma is?
I wonder who the 1,000th find of a TurdleEggs cache is going to be? |

MBeans cache Karma = 188/232 = 0.81
Is that good or bad? |

The Z's Cache Karma is a near perfect 1.007366.
Our Caches DNF Karma is 17/547 or 3% !
What program are you using Turdle? These I had to do by hand..... |

The programs I used are GSAK with some macros and pocket queries. You’ll need the latest version of GSAK.
clyde’s GSAK v7.1.1
GeoCaching.com’s My Finds Pocket Query
Kai Team’s Add missing logs to a waypoint
Kai Team’s Generate Stats for Placed Caches v2.x
lignumaqua’s Find Statistics Generator v3.x
Step 1: Install GSAK v7.1.x
Step 2: Run MyFinds Pocket Query to ensure all your finds are in GSAK
Step 3: Load your MyFinds Pocket Query results into GSAK
Step 4: Run the AddLogs macro for each of your hides to ensure all the finder logs are in GSAK
Step 5: Run the PlacedStats macro to generate the placed cache statistics file used in the report
Step 6: Run the FindStatGen3 macro to produce the report
That’s all there is to it |

Took me a while to compile these stats because I have several caches I placed jointly with other people, and several caches that I placed for NYGO.
My cache karma for just my caches is 3104/2332 = 1.33
My cache karma for all the caches I've had a hand in is 3778/2332 = 1.62
I also discovered I have 45 active caches (including 7 for NYGO) and 19 archived caches (3 for NYGO). |

Call me blonde, but I don't know which way is deemed the better or more desired one.
Like - do you want more hits on your caches or more of your own finds...
My stats are 111/397 which makes a ratio of 0.2795969
Is that good or bad?

A low cache karma number is "bad" because you are taking (finding) more that you are giving (letting others find you caches). A high number is "good"; it is better to give than to receive.
It doesn't really mean anything. |

So that's how it rolls....
Okay but if you have a pile of caches, you have to maintain them right?
Kind of a little pet peeve of mine is that there are a few people with tons of caches that don't maintain them... no one that posts here... but I am sure you can think of a few situations like that.
Hey - learn something new every day!

Yes, it's very easy to place lots of caches but:
1. Are they worth finding; will cachers enjoy them?
2. Can you maintain them in a timely matter?
Unfortunately many hiders cannot answer yes to both question. |

| In a stats mood lately so managed to work out our karma: 2.33 (1417/608) but that is more likely a factor of us not being near many other active cachers. |
