Not sure how long these have been there or how long they will stay but there are a few "New" tools on Google Maps I just noticed will be helpful.
1. Distance Measurement Tool - You can toggle Google Maps into measurement mode and then pick a series of points and it will tell you the distances. I already found this handy since I noticed a new park and was wondering whether it was far enough from some existing caches. 3 clicks and I know the answer.
2. LatLng tool tip - will display the latitude and longitude as a tool tip alongside your mouse cursor. Not sure yet if its configurable to show different formats
3. LatLng marker - will allow you to place a marker showing the latitude and longitude of a point. I know I've wished for that a few times. Again hopefully its configurable a little. |
