Nominations are requested for MBGA director positions to be elected at the Annual General Meeting on May 1, 2016.

The board of directors will serve to manage the affairs of the MBGA for a one year term following the election. If you, or someone you know, would like to volunteer please e-mail nomination@mbgeocaching.ca with the name and contact information of the nominee. Permission must be obtained before nominating another person. Nominees should submit a statement of their qualifications before the AGM.

Nominations are accepted for any Manitoba resident, 18 years or older, who is an eligible voting member of the MBGA for at least thirty (30) days prior to the election. Nominations are open until midnight, April 17, 2015.

For further details on the election and operation of the MBGA please refer to the Election Policy and Bylaws. Reviewing past meeting minutes of the MBGA committee will also give you an idea of what to expect.

Nominees are running for a director position on the board. Once the group of directors has been elected, the board will elect officer positions. The MBGA Board meets in Winnipeg, but directors may reside anywhere in Manitoba. In the past we have had directors from Brandon, Flin Flon, and The Pas and have used Skype to videoconference.

As per the MBGA Election Policy, if there are insufficient nominees to fill the Board positions, a call for nominees from the floor shall occur at the AGM.

My name is Mike Neale, aka Glacier_ice and even sometimes “Red Shirt Brian”.

You may remember me from such Geocaches as ‘Jimmy "Two Cups" MACHiato’, 'Zach's Place' and 'Photo Edited'. I am currently serving my sixth term as MBGA President and my seventh year on the board of directors. There will be no vote bribery coming from me, so if you were looking for tips to solve Photo Edited in exchange for your vote, I am sorry, but you'll have to solve that one the old fashioned way. I will, however, continue to share stories, in my cache logs, about my three (no so little anymore) Ice Cubes that sometimes go caching with me. I am willing to keep my name on the ballot for this year's election and continue to serve on the board of directors. I look forward to meeting the new geocachers who will be attending their first AGM this year. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sandy Welbergen (swelbergen)

Teacher, procrastinator, fairweather geocacher. Loves cats, craft beer, cupcakes and Chapstick- maybe not in that order! Personally and unabashedly responsible for Skoki and icimondo, both of which are responsible for abating her fear of rain, spiders and tornadoes. Driven to teach school children all about sustainability, GPS, remote sensing, estimating, road safety, problem solving and responsible use of technology (i.e. GEOCACHING), just so she has an excuse to teach out-of-doors and escape from the classroom. "Um, yeah, we're on a field trip..."

My name is Chris (=GeoJoe=).

I found my first cache 05/07/06. I am a father of two (9yr old girl and 3 1/2yr old boy). Geocaching is a huge part of my life and I hope to help the MBGA in anyway I can to promote this crazy addiction! I enjoy hiding fun caches more than finding them. Im pretty sure I have given more than anyone when building a cache (4 fingers) haha. Thanks for your consideration.

Loida O'Keeffe (okeeffek)

I am a Winnipeg geocacher. My husband Kieran and I are team O'KeeffeK. I have a certificate and diploma from the University of Winnipeg, in Public Relations and Management. I am currently an outreach worker for the St. James school division. I look forward to bringing my experience and enthusiasm to the Manitoba Geocaching Association. I thank you for the nomination.

My name is Kristine Fileccia (aka epatzee).

I am definitely the newbie cacher in this bunch. I am the proud mother of an 11yr old boy and I’m an all-round lover of life who loves to keep busy. I began caching in October 2014, believing at the time that my son would love it, but as it turned out I was the one who was instantly enamored! I have left my “workaholic” days behind me and am now a “cache-aholic” instead which is much more fulfilling. The MBGA has already introduced me to great friends through events and I am so excited to get involved with a group of people who are as passionate about caching as I have become. Thank you so much for considering me!

Hi. I'm Ken (Geocacher Ken) and I have an addiction.

It all started out innocently enough one summer afternoon on a family outing to Lower Fort Garry. I thought I found someone's lunch container. Turned out to be a geocache. Once I got better at this new hobby, it became all about the numbers. Daily streak that's 660+ days and counting (8th best in the province), 2,788 finds (74th most in the province). I'll be expanding on those stats to include Manitoba geocachers. I am actively involved with the local union at my work place, having held a couple different positions over time. I believe in education and educating muggles and newbie geocachers will only help our hobby/sport grow. "Education is the movement from darkness to light" - Allan Bloom. Thank you for considering me for an executive position.

My name is Nathan Kachur – ShopCrazy

I have been Geocaching for almost 4 years and have enjoyed it since my first find. I decided to get serious about this hobby last June when I returned from my last military deployment and now have over 1300 finds and 9 hides. I have been a Vehicle Maintainer in the Canadian Forces for 23 years. I am married to a big time Muggle and have 2 boys that sometimes come caching with their cache crazy dad. I also volunteer with the Air Cadets in Stonewall.
