Magellen Meridian Platinum's have been spotted at Walmart on clearance for $180.
Pretty good deal on an older top of the line model.

Pretty good deal on an older top of the line model.
I recently picked up a new unit from GPS Central in Calgary. They've got some nice stuff as well. For $200.00, picked up a Lowrance iFinder M+M, which has WAAS, builtin and upgradeable maps, 1000 waypoints, 99 user trails of up to 10,000 points, external antenna jack and a 240 by 180 pixel 4 grey lcd display. It accepts SD memory cards up to 1GB in capacity, runs on 2 AA batts, and comes with a car power adapter.
And it plays MP3s.
Also available is the Lowrance iFinder H20 which is pretty much the same unit, minus the music for $179.
I was very impressed with GPS Central -- I placed the order at around 7:30pm, and had an email back from a real person in less than 5 minutes, and had the package in my mailbox in less than 2 days.
The Lowrance seems like a nice unit -- quick to get a lock, and a nice, easy to read display, easy to navigate (if a bit too extensive) menus. My only issue is it's size, as I'm used to a tiny Geko. But it's comparable to most other GPSrs I've seen.

GPS Central is awesome. I have ordered items from them and with regular shipping have received them the next day. I have also stopped by to the store in Calgary and they are great people. Highly recommened.

Note that the iFinder GO and GO2 have no easy way to load waypoints into them.
They have a serial port that allows them to send NMEA packets to map plotting software, but that's it*.
I'm really liking my iFinder M+M, BTW. But if you're looking for a GPSr for caching, ignore the GO models. The H20 or the M+M is a much better choice.

Note that the Explorist 200 has no PC interface ability. This considerably limits it's usefulness in caching.
YMMV.

Noted. Don't take any of these postings as my recommendation. I just post the deals as I spot them. Compare the units for yourself.

Even better, tigerdirect.ca has the explorist 200 for $105 less a $30 rebate.

Hi all!
I have a question about the eXplorist handhelds. It says that they're "non-mapping", yet each picture shows their screen with a map. Does this mean that you cannot download maps to them? Also, is it possible to download waypoints to them? (couldn't find the info at GPSCity)
Inquiring minds want to know.
