The game I am proposing is very similar to ShutterSpot offered through GPSGames.org. This is where you try to figure out the location of a picture that has been taken somewhere and visit it and log that visit.
The difference here is that the Geopics can be pictures of unremarkable, somewhat pedestrian locations that are just significant enough to be recognizable to another area cacher. They can then visit the site, take their own picture of the same area including their GPS and post the picture and coordinates where they think the person stood.
Here are the only guidelines:
1. The location must be within the Winnipeg and the surrounding area.
2. No tresspassing, or dangerous locations.
3. Don't make it too terribly difficult, or too easy!
When you post the picture, also post the Degrees of the location so that people can narrow it down a bit (N 49 _ _._ _ _ /W 97 _ _._ _ _)
Every week that the location remains unfound, the picture owner should publish one more number from the coordinates on the forum. This will help keep the game going.
Whoever correctly identifies the location has a week to post their own location and clue.
That's about it. This game is not my idea. I swiped it from TimeandSpace on the Edmonton Geocaching forum. I have been following it for a few months and though it looked like fun.
If you are not sure how to post photos, let me know. I can help you with the hosting as well if you like.
I'll be posting the first location shortly....
