Welcome Introduction

Geocaching is a worldwide adventure sport which utilizes GPS devices to hide and seek hidden containers called geocaches. (Learn more about geocaching) To get started geocaching, all you need is a GPS receiver and a geocache location. (Learn more about getting started) You can find a nearby geocache location at geocaching.com by entering an address or town into the search box.

The Manitoba Geocaching Association (MBGA) strives to advance the sport of geocaching through social activities, public education and promotion of geocaching. (Learn more about the MBGA).

As you may have heard (perhaps several times recently), this month marks 15 years since the first ever geocache (or “GPS Stash” as it was called then) was hidden. In the 15 intervening years, over four million geocaches have been hidden around the world, of which some 2.6 million can be found today. To mark the anniversary, a special geocoin was designed.

Manitoba vs Saskatchewan

Manitoba Geocachers: Did you know that there are more Saskatchewan geocachers coming to the Mega event in July than Manitoba cachers? More Alberta cachers as well. We finally have a Mega in the province it would be nice to have locals come out and do Manitoba proud. Mega's are not the type of event that you don't log a "Will Attend" and show up. It's common courtesy to (at minimum) log a "Will Attend" and get a free registration from the event website (outside of gc.com). Don't make this a last minute decision. Here's their fb page: Country Legends

'Will Attend' (RSVP) to Events

Hi everyone! We are discussing our Birthday Cake situation for the AGM on May 3rd. Currently, we only have a handful of 'Will Attends' which means we can only order a small cake. If you are planning to attend, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you log your 'Will Attend'. Otherwise, we will only have enough cake for the number of people who have RSVP'd.
Think of 'Will Attend' as something that is just as important to event planners as if you were RSVPing to a wedding. You wouldn't RSVP to the wedding couple the morning they are to be wed.
HAVE RSVP? You'll have cake!
