Geocaching is a worldwide adventure sport which utilizes GPS devices to hide and seek hidden containers called geocaches. The Manitoba Geocaching Association (MBGA) strives to advance the sport of geocaching through social activities, public education and promotion of geocaching. (Learn more about the MBGA).

GWOS
Ground water observation stations of many variations have been used in Manitoba for several decades and generally go unnoticed by the general Public. They are used to monitor our precious ground water resource. We had driven past one of these stations twice every weekend through the summer months on the way to our cottage. Finally one day curiosity got the better of us and we stopped to see if we could figure out what it was. Affixed to the GWOS was a small plaque that described when it was placed and who placed it. As we looked it over, it dawned on us that this would make an awesome geocache, hidden in plain sight and large enough to stock many treasures. We took pictures of the GWOS that day and started planning its construction. The rest is history. We built a GWOS like cache, stocked it with treasures that kids of all ages would enjoy and continue to enjoy the legacy and feedback of GWOS, although in a slightly different manner then they were originally intended. --Trove Chasers
Operation: BattleCache! Results
The Manitoba Geocaching Association hosted a winter contest from November 1st, 2009 to February 28, 2010.
Results:
Over 3200 shots were submitted by 61 different players. Qualified entries: Grand prize - 19, 2nd prize - 1, 3rd prize - 23, 4th prize - 20, 5th prize - 20, 6th prize - 20 7th prize - 19, and 8th prize - 58. Prizes will be awarded at the AGM.

ernie&bert&elmo&grover would like to nominate GeoPahkers, two of the most generous and congenial cachers we've ever met. They were very patient with us (with two young kids) at our first ever geocaching event (Cache the Marsh 3) and have created some very fun and unique hides. The time, effort (and money) they put into Trick or Cache? was amazing. In our humble opinion, they are most deserving of being featured as "Cachers of the Month".
