A long time ago, in a kitchen far far away.
At this year's AGM, to enter the food competition, the Force (er Food!) must be with you.
We tried to book this year's AGM on May the 4th, but the facility was already booked. However, we loved the idea of a Star Wars based food competition, that we decided to run with it anyways.
So, what Star Wars based food items will you bring? Jabba the Hut's live frogs? Luke Skywalker's juice in a Tupperware cup? Luke's survival ration stolen by Yoda? Yoda's stew? Bantha fodder, Tauntan Spaghetti, deep fried Gungan Ears, so much to choose from! The choice is yours... so choose wisely. (ps, eyeball soup would be the other Harrison Ford movie.)
When presenting your food on the potluck table, a small placard with the Star Wars name of your food would be helpful for everyone for voting purposes.
When posting your "Will Attend" to this event, please list what you are bringing and how many people are in your party.
Our venue has an oven for heating/re-heating of food and is equipped with all the amenities including a kids area. Please post a Will Attend if you are able to join us, as well as be sure to add it to your watchlist for changes and updates. A donation plate will be set out to help pay for the cost of the venue.
Potluck tips -
"A good potluck rule of thumb is to bring enough in the dish to feed your family if that is all they ate. Many people attempt to feed the whole group and you end up with way too much food."
Conversley, bringing a small plate of desserts, or 'just drinks' and then filling up on main dishes means that the potluck runs out of food before the end of the line.
The fun thing about potlucks is you never really know what is going to be there, but usually works out to be quite a variety.
Be prepared to list ingredients as required for those who suffer food allergies
MBGA Annual General Meeting at 7PM
After dinner, we will have a short meeting to review the MBGA's efforts over the past year and discuss plans for the upcoming year. (Depending on attendance, we may need to reconfigure the room before the meeting begins.)
There will also be elections for the new Board Members. We have a number of people stepping down from the board this year and we could really use some help. If you are interested in running for election to join the Board, please contact the MBGA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are planning to have a couple of older geo-kids in attendance to watch over the smaller geo-kids in the activity room. They will keep the younger ones occupied (and quieter during the meeting portion of this event) with activites. They will be paid for their services. Please consider adding a donation to our donation jar to offset the cost of both the hall and the babysitting payments.
