Trove Chasers (Jon Close) Nomination Statement
I am a Professional Engineer, having received my bachelor of Engineering from the U of S in Saskatoon in the field of Agricultural Engineering. I am currently employed in Portage la Prairie and I spend most of my time designing ATV accessories and farm machinery as well as manufacturing fixtures and tooling. Yes, this definitely does get in the way of geocaching.
My wife and I started geocaching in late June of 2007 and we have been avid enthusiasts of the hobby ever since. We have found nearly 1650 caches since then and have hidden 38 of our own. We have cached in 3 Canadian provinces and 6 US states.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the MBGA and I am prepared to do just that. Other similar positions I have held in the past include:
2008-2009 – Mapping Co-ordinator of the Cross Country Snow Drifters Snowmobile club.
2006 -2008 – Member of the Cross Country Snow Drifters Snowmobile club.
2005 - 2009 - Member of the Great White North SolidWorks Users Group.

Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI)
1992-96 – Secretary Treasurer of the Portage Engineering Group
