OHMIC (Jacques Bourgeois) Nomination Statement

My name is Jacques Bourgeois. I have been on the MBGA Board of director for two years acting as Training Coordinator the first year and as Public Relations Coordinator the second year.

I work at Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre as Marketing and Communication Coordinator and I believe my connections with the media can benefit the MBGA.

I placed my first two geocaches at Oak Hammock Marsh in 2003 as a way to share with other geocachers this beautiful place. I started searching for geocaches in 2006 when I first obtained my personal GPS receiver. I have been hooked ever since. I now have over 40 active caches placed in Manitoba and I have found over 3500 caches worldwide. I organized two geocaching events at Oak Hammock Marsh and I am planning a third one for this spring.

I have trained several hundred of people including students, youth, school teachers, educators, community representatives and tourism organisations, on the use of GPS and geocaching.

Furthermore, I conducted several interviews on radio, television as well as newspapers to promote and encourage the growth of geocaching in Manitoba.

Thank you for considering my nomination to the Board of Directors of the MBGA.
