Operation: BattleCache!

Operation BattleCache

Object:

Find enough caches to cover as much of the game board as possible in the hope that the hidden Aircraft Carrier, Battleship, Destroyer, Submarine, and Patrol Boat are found and sunk.

Game Board:

BattleCache Game Board

Game Pieces:

  • Aircraft Carrier - 5 contiguous boxes either horizontally or vertically
  • Battleship - 4 contiguous boxes either horizontally or vertically
  • Destroyer - 3 contiguous boxes either horizontally or vertically
  • Submarine - 3 contiguous boxes either horizontally or vertically
  • Patrol Boat - 2 contiguous boxes either horizontally or vertically

Rules:

  • The game starts on November 1st, 2009 and ends on February 28th, 2010.
  • Players may only use caches found or hidden by them within the duration of the game. (For the newly hidden caches, the published date will be used regardless of when the cache has been hidden).
  • To determine the Grid Coordinates of the game board, use the GC Code of the found or hidden cache (eg. GC4AT6Z). Disregard the leading "GC" characters, leaving your playable characters (ie. 4, A, T, 6, and Z). Use any of the characters to find a Grid Coordinate. In the example, A4 or A6 would be valid choices, as T and Z are not on the game board.
  • Note: The letter 'I' does not appear in the GC Codes. As a result it is not represented in the grid.
  • You may only use 1 (one) Grid Coordinate per cache find or hide. In the preceding example, you could use A4 or A6, but not both.
  • There is no requirement to fill the entire game board. However, the more hits a player has, the more chance of winning a prize.
  • The caches can be found or hidden anywhere and is not restricted to Manitoba.
  • The game is open to all players who are residents of Manitoba and are MBGA members on February 28th, 2010.
  • After February 28th, 2010 and before the AGM, the Game Masters (glacier_ice and dani_carriere) will randomly draw the placement for each ship [Ship type | X-Axis | Y-Axis | (Horizontal vs Vertical alignment]. As a result, while the game is being played, no one will know the locations of the ships.
  • Due to the random nature of the ship placements, all members of the MBGA Executive are eligible to play.
  • Prizes will be announced at the 2010 Annual General Meeting.
  • Limit of one prize per caching team.

Prizes:

Grand Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank all five boats.
Second Prize: The first player to successfully complete the board will win second prize. This prize will not be announced until the AGM. In the instance where there is a tie, a single draw will be made from all entries involved in the tie.
Third Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank the Patrol Boat.
Fourth Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank the Submarine.
Fifth Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank the Destroyer.
Sixth Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank the Battleship.
Seventh Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries that successfully sank the Aircraft Carrier.
Eighth Prize: A single draw will be made from all entries in the game.
