What: This is a CITO event to support Special Olympics Manitoba at the Special Olympics Manitoba Summer Games, Track & Field Venue.
At the end of track meets each year, there is always plenty of garbage to be cleaned up. Unfortunately, by the time the end of the day rolls around, the event volunteers are hot and tired from an exhausting day in the sun working with these amazing athletes. Typically, the clean up doesn't get done as well as it could. A proposal was presented to the MBGA board of directors, and met with enthusiasm, that late in the day, a group of Geocaching Volunteers that are fresh and energetic would arrive to take care of this much needed task.
Track meets usually wind up anytime after 3pm. If the track meet is still ongoing, then clean up will occur in the areas on the outside of the fence, under the stands, in the stands, etc. Once the track meet is over, we will have access to the track area to clean up the garbage there.
The meeting spot will be at the base of the announcer's tower at 3pm. Geocachers are more than welcome to arrive earlier and cheer on the athletes that are competing. Athletes in this competition are competing for possible spots on Team Manitoba to go to the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Vancouver, 2014.
This event must wrap up at 5pm sharp as parking restrictions will then be in place for the Taylor Swift concert happening at Investor's Group Stadium that evening.
